Movie about Santa Vittoria in Mantenano

Everyone but me probably already knows this, but here goes. The bestselling book "Secret of Santa Vittoria", later turned into a movie directed by Stanley Kramer with Anthony Quinn and Anna Magnani, was based on a wartime incident in Santa Vittoria in Mantenano (S Marche) when the local populace hid their entire wine supply (over 1 million bottles) from the Germans......

I've just ordered both book and DVD. The general view seems to be that the book is better than the movie. Anyone read/seen either???

Oooops - misinformation alert - turns out that over time SV in M has got mixed up with Santa Vittoria d'Alba in Piemonte
Just shows you shouldn't trust anything you read, even the Blue Guide to Le Marche!!!
