Soulful Sister

I don't watch the TV programme "The Voice", but when Sister Cristina Scucci hit the ITV London news with her singing success on the Italian version of the programme, I thought I would check her out.  Here's the link:

The audience weren’t sure what to make of 25-year-old Cristina Scucci when she first walked out on stage. Dressed in her nun’s habit and a pair of black pumps, she didn’t exactly look like the typical contestant on The Voice.

That all changed when she began to sing (and groove) though. Cheered on from backstage by three of her fellow nuns, the soulful sister blasted her way through the Alicia Keys hit No One, and soon had the Italian audience on their feet.

In true The Voice style it wasn’t long before the impressed judges span round to take a look, and their shocked faces are simply priceless.

Asked why she applied to the show, sister Cristina replied: ‘I came here because I have a gift and I want to share that gift.’

Played it to OH 'blind' and the reaction on discovering it was a nun singing matched those of the judges.      

I wait for someone to snap up the film rights - she's from Comiso in Sicily - and one of those nuns who if you took off her glasses and wimple would produce that 'Why but you're beautiful without your glasses Miss Jones... ' reaction.   She's done it in order to meet the Pope she says -

Just to add to her biopic credentials, she was in Sister Act and saying the words of her character every night, she had the calling and chucked in the actors life to become a nun!
