Italian Online plant buying
Am I just catching up, or are Italian vivai beginning to produce quite useful websites from which you can buy online? For instance:
http://www.vivaipriola.it/
They seem to be mostly up North (this one is in Treviso), which isn't entirely surprising

There are many nurseries in the Pistoia area. You can see them on thesides of the road from Lucca to Florence and they are also working on line. Here is a very large one with an extensive catalogue http://www.vivaisandrobruschi.it/Default.aspx?lang=l2

Thanks Gala, will take a look. My problem is these nurseries are so far away and their prices are normally high. In Uk I used to buy wholesale and get everything at half the price.....here everything is so expensive !

Angela we paid €5 each for 4 apple trees (they were about 3 year old trees), which I'm sure is not too bad compared to the UK.

Might be cheaper to drive down and buy some .... Mind you it was the end of the year when we bought them! Planted them just before we come back to the UK,so hope they are still there... The old guy that sold them to us was lovely, there were apples on the trees that had fallen, he put them on the pots so we could try them (they were lovely). He also give us a free pomegranate bush and flower for our friend...

postal plants
Baaker the big dutch plant trader have an italian set up and you can order on line it's cheaper than most vivai UNLESS you take the trouble to search out some specific plant you may be interested in then you can find some specialist place but then you may have to go and pick them up.For example i produce rasberries and when i had prepared or a second site i needed about 500 canes (winter) to put in .it was worth my while to drive to Ferrara to get them to a big agricutural plant producer who interestingly enough exports to germany and the uk! but if you want to find these gems you have to google reserach in italian to find the sites you'll be surprised.

The Italian site for Bakker is Here Added simply because it took me a little time to find. UK site is HERE A little easier to find....
