WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS
The two previous threads for this topic are either too big or gone off the rail. So a new thread is needed.
Welcome, SirTK! Good to see you around !

Re: WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS
Sorry, it was a valiant attempt by a very educated old Italy hand with loads of info to share, but IMO this forum should be laid to rest. I'm unhappy to say this, because it was a brave initiative, but frankly the appeal is lacking. (IMO)

Give it time...

Give it time Lax, early days yet and there is a vast amount of experience to be had from a hard core of people on here. I would sure as hell come on here for information rather than other more established forums just because of the massive amount of knowledge some people have here, including yourself.

Re: WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS
I agree with Steve, Lax. Let's give it a bit more time and we may all be surprised. It is also holiday time. September-October will tell us whether it is viable.. or not. I am still confident.

Re: WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS
Blimey..............we have just started ! Summer time and the livin is easy !
I think the proof of the 'forum' pudding is to ask it a question, I bet you get 10 answers (some will be the same) very quickly, because there are a lot of old stagers here (I put myself in that category !) who have 'been there done that'.
New members joining help bring in new views and slants on the various subjects, so the more the merrier for me !
I am still not sure about the layout, most things seems to end up in general chat, but as I haven't spent a lot of time thinking of alternatives, I am happy to carry on as we are.
Come on rejoice............we have a huge font of knowledge and help here!!

IMO we’re all responsible for the forum’s success
I always check here first and very grateful to everyone that has shared their knowledge and experience. I would love to post more, just not enough time I'm afraid:arrow:

Re: WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS
I think that reputation has to do with the number of times that you have been thanked by members for a useful post or contribution. As for points... I haven't worked it out

Once more questions are asked, then the replies will start to accelerate. There are many on here that can advise on subjects, but to say it should be trashed within a couple of months is not very helpful at all.
It has only been running a few months and it is summertime, where most spend time in the garden, or lazing outside!!
Re: WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS
L'uomodellaluna. I believe your 'reputation' reflects the number of 'Thanks' you get. I understand you are awarded 'points' every time you post, more if you start a 'new topic' - but I may be wrong!!
PS I liked your joke so I 'thanked' you

Re: WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS
I thought the same, ghiro, but I was not game to state it... In any case, it makes sense.
Geo, I totally agree with you. More time is needed and I am certain that we are watched by people who could become future members. I originally said to wait until October... I think that it should be December.

Re: WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS
Of course we need more time!! We are but an infant forum at present but, with adequate nourishment, we're sure to grow!
We could probably do with a little more fun and frolic. Like all the fora I've been party to there will inevitably be some topics that are of more interest than others. But already there's been a wealth of really useful information here.

Re: WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS
Well , Oh ye of little faith Lax. The forum has only been in existence for a couple of months, and without the might of Google search engine recognition, I personally think we are doing OK, and a damn sight more going on here than the debacle that we used to contribute to.
As others have said it needs a bit more time so we do need everyone who can contribute no matter how useful, obscure, frivolent, technical or simple, everyones views are important.
Don't jump ship quite yet as every Pirate Ship needs a Parrot ....
