Blood On The Altar by Tobias Jones
I dont normally go for books about serial killers, but as this one is set mainly in Basilicata and is by Tobias Jones I was tempted enough to read it in Italy. It is the true story of the mystery of the disappearance of a young girl, which is linked to the murder of a woman in England many years later. It is full of all sorts of information about Basilicata apart from the central story, which is very moving. The descriptions of the wildness of that region made me really want to explore it one day. Has anyone else read it? I thought it was well worth reading.

Its the Eliza Claps story with the arrest of Restivo isnt it? A typically Italian murky tale of bodies in the belfry, clergy and rather inept policing. Its a depressing story, at least the UK cops succeeded in arresting and sentencing Restivo.
