I just wanted to let everyone know that finally, after about 13 years of looking in southern Marche, we have bought a house.  The atto was last week and now the fun begins, lining up the various tradespeople for preventivi.  The house is not in the hills, nor does it have the mountain view that we were looking for.  However, it is 3 kilometers from the coast, an easy walk into town, private but not isolated and has a fabulous seaview.   Smile Smile

Exciting !!  Congratulations....... the time that you have spent looking will hopefully have served you well. Easy walking sounds good and the peace and tranquillity is likely to be priceless.

Hopefully a glass of bubbles will go down well !?

Vicino and Geo,

Thank you so much for the kind words.  It is a bit overwhelming with all that needs to be sorted out, but we will get there!  Our rental contract is up at the end of July and our landlorddoesn't want any more tenants, so we may be camping for awhile!   Laughing

Hi Lisa
Is there a outbuilding that you could possibly convert to a temporary residence while the renovations are completed. I know a few people who have done this, so just a idea?

Hi Geo,

There is only a former pigsty, very tiny, which holds the yard equipment.  We are able to stay in our current apartment until the end of July so that should hopefully be enough time.   Smile

Lisa.
I do not know how much work has to be done to the house, but as things move slowly here, try to keep that in mind. We were meant to be able to move in after our renovation by October after the purchase, but that did not happen until the next year.
We had a caravan here initially, but moved out into a apartment over the winter as things were so slow.
Try and get some proper time frames for the work.

I suppose part of the sluggishness nowadays is ever changing earthquake regs and associated funding?

Staggering that some property renovations have yet to start (30 months after the events !)

Assume a slow progress, you might be surprised.

Geo and Vicino,

Thanks so much for the heads up. While the house does need a fair amount of work, it will certainly be habitable once we. Install a new caldaia and kitchen. Hopefully this will happen in the next few months. The bathrooms are fully functional. We do need to have some of the electrics and plumbing updated , new windows installed, new roof and some walls knocked down, along with putting in an internal staircase. Right now the house is divided into 2 apartments with only an external staircase. The roof does not leak. The windows and doors are single pane. We are also looking into installing solar panels and photo voltaico. We have ordered a kitchen and all appliances but they can't be installed until the other work necessary for the kitchen is done.
