Well questions in Umbria
Hi all,
I am back to the well question after we received a large bill for water consumption
Our well on the property has apparently collapsed, we get different stories, it sounds a bit like everyone wants to build a new well
The latest info we have received (true or not) is that our well was build with Eternit and that is apparently also a problem ...
We have had a "water finder" on our property and he found many places where we have water, not a surprise to us, we seem to have many spots with soggy ground.
So here are my questions:
1. Does anyone have experience what the process is in Umbria to get a new well?
There apparently is an application process, geological study, etc etc
Does anyone know where I can find information about this process?
2. Does anyone know about specific restrictions when building a well?
How far away from the neighbors property?
How far away from any public property like a public street?
How far away from any real structure like our own house due to the earth movement when the well is being drilled?
Our house is an old stone house with no foundation and I don't want it to come down when we drill :-)
3. Has anyone worked with a good well company in Umbria?
Any recommendations?
thanks
Markus

Re: Well questions in Umbria
Hi Markus, I cannot help you with Umbría, but this may be of assistance:
1.- Your first step should be to contact your local council. They may be able to answer many questions, or point you in the right direction.
2.- Have a look at this link: https://www.affidata.co.uk/sh/property-for-sale/water-supply-in-italy
Also, read the additional links provided.
3.- Eternit is a major problem, as, if it is an old well, it may contain asbestos, which will need to be removed by only a number of companies authorized to deal with this most dangerous material.
Good luck!
