Bittersweet farewell
As our responsibilities back in the US have reached a point where we can no longer spend 6 months a year here, we reluctantly have placed our Varano property on the market. The bitter part is leaving behind all the friends and acquaintances we have enjoyed over the past 11 years. The sweet part is all the memories we have from our "Italian Adventure," in part thanks to this forum.
We would like to thank all who have contributed to the forum as much of it has been helpful.
Special thanks to Charlotte for her lunches, Paul for creating and managing the Lunigiana site, and Marilyn for creating and managing the library at Elvetica in Fivizzano.
Thanks again and best wishes to all for as great an "Italian Adventure" as we have enjoyed.
Ciao for now,
Marianne and Fred Bernadotti

Marianne & Fred
Sorry that it didn't work out for you, I know you'll desperately miss the Italian Adventure, but hey you can always visit and I'm sure your friends would love to see you again.
As far as as the Forum goes, sadly I think it has reached it's Salad Days, as the highlights seem to revolve around what is the next promotion at Lidl's or some such tidbits, as it appears the Dead Horse is been flogged once too often.
Best of Luck in all you do in the future.

Bittersweet farewell
Flip, thanks for your response. Always enjoy your postings on various topics.
One of the “responsibilities” demanding our attention is the remodeling of the “Sand Castle” in the mountains above the desert which was built and owned by an actor, Denny Miller, who played Tarzan in the 1969 movie “Tarzan.”
He was also a featured actor in the old TV western series “Wagon Train.”
